recharge - meditation for modern living
pop-up meditation course
Thursday 17 Nov - 8 Dec 2016
Time: 7.00- 8.30pm
Location: L1 60-66 Hanover St, Fitzroy, VIC 3065
In this four-week pop-up mindfulness course you will learn how to meditate and make it part of your daily routine. We will teach you how to apply mindfulness to reduce stress, improve productivity and performance and have better relationships.
The course will be held in a beautiful, inspiring urban space. We don’t need to find a cave somewhere to calm down and focus - we can learn to do it right where we are. Anyone can do it - and we will teach you how.
The course will be facilitated by Dr Richard Chambers, a clinical psychologist and internationally-recognised expert in mindfulness. He has been teaching mindfulness for 15 years and consults to a growing number of organisations as diverse as Monash University, Bunnings, Victoria Police and Herbert Smith Freehills. The author of three books on mindfulness, he regularly features in mainstream media.
We will introduce the science and practice of mindfulness. Even though it is based in neuroscience, it’s simple and easy to practice. You will see how you are already having mindful moments every day, and will learn how to use meditation to be even more present, focused and fulfilled. We will help you get a regular meditation practice going, supporting you through common obstacles. If you can sit, you can meditate!
We will learn to use mindfulness to reduce stress and anxiety. You will learn how to catch stress early and get unhooked from unhelpful thought patterns. We will also show you how cultivating curiosity increases your engagement with - and enjoyment of - each moment.
We will teach you how to focus and deal with distractions, so you can maximise your productivity and performance. You will learn how to manage technology to make it work for you rather than against you. We will also teach you to be kinder to yourself and to communicate more effectively with others.
In the final week, we will help you understand how to maintain your meditation routine and have mindfulness be part of your life over the long-term.
